Timeboxing - It just works!
Timeboxing works. I’ve tried so many tools, checklists, and processes with varying degrees of success, but I’ve always had great success with timeboxing.
Author Nir Eyal in his article, talks about why Timeboxing is great and why it works. I’ll summarize the key points for you here. Feel free to go read the full article for a detailed walkthrough.
What is timeboxing? Timeboxing means boxing out periods of time to work on tasks or themes each day in your calendar.
Why does it work? Timeboxing can change your life like it changed mine. It uses well-researched technique psychologists call “setting an implementation intention,” which is just an intelligent-sounding way of saying, “planning out what you are going to do and when you will do it.”
Start Small – You don’t need to start by planning out your whole month/life. Start small by timeboxing one week or even one day.
It’s an iterative process – Like everything, timeboxing is an iterative process. You can’t set it and forget it. As your progress, you’ll learn how to make your timeboxing schedule work for you.
