Spending time on things you can't control, takes time away from things you can.
We focus so much on things we can’t even control. I have this habit of trying to control everything OR just letting everything go. It’s hard for me to balance.
When reflecting upon why I feel stressed, I always have “worrying about things I can’t control” as the top item. Why am I even spending time on things I know I don’t control? I don’t control how other people behave, and I don’t control the actions of my competitors; I don’t control so many things. Yet, I spend the most time on those things, and I feel stressed because I can’t control them.
This focus on the wrong things takes time and energy away from the right things, the things that I can actually control.
How am I trying to solve this?
I have developed a habit of writing down things that are stressing me or taking my time. This activity of writing things down helps me easily identify things that aren’t under my control.
How do you handle things you can’t control?
