Migrating 40 sites in a day with Migrate Guru
I’ve been using Migrate Guru for the last year almost daily, having migrated over 1000 websites with it successfully. I must say it is a lifesaver. I have told this multiple times to Akshat, the Founder of Blogvault (which runs Migrate Guru) that he has saved me countless hours by making WordPress Migrations so painless. This article isn’t a tutorial or in-depth review, so if you’re looking for that, it’s not here. Honestly, it is such an easy to use product you don’t even need a tutorial. Just install it, and you’ll be migrating your site in 2minutes.
The best thing about migrate guru? It’s cloud-based, nothing to download and upload, no databases to export and import, no search and replace to run. Everything is handled on the fly by installing the plugin on the source site, entering your FTP details, and letting it do the magic.
There would have been no other way that I alone could have migrated 40 sites in one day to our servers for a client, in around 9 hours total from start to finish if not for Migrate Guru.
It’s such a repeatable and clean process that I even coded a small Puppeteer script to automate the process. Once a client sends us the logins, the script creates the site on our servers, logs into the source site, installs migrate guru, enters the FTP details and start the migration—all automated. The script still needs some work, and maybe eventually, I’ll share my script on this blog (Disclaimer: I’m not a coder, so the script is a noob effort from the countless noob scripts I keep writing to make my life easier).
So far, I’ve personally migrated over 1000 sites with Migrate Guru in the last year. The success ratio has easily been over 95%, with very few failures or migrations not completing successfully. Most of the time, it just plain works.
If you’re looking to migrate a WordPress site, I would suggest using Migrate Guru and don’t look back.
