Be happy with what you have, while you work for what you want
I always want more; it is hard to be happy with what you have. Whatever you want, it loses its value once you get it, and you’re after the next shiny object.
I’ve been fighting with this shiny object syndrome for some time now. I do understand that I have to be happy with what I have while I keep working for what I want, but it’s god-damn difficult.
From the smallest of items to the largest of projects, I always want the next thing. How am I trying to control the urges and be happy with what I have? I’ve started to write a gratitude journal every week. When I started, I thought I wouldn’t stick to it and/or it wouldn’t help me. It has. Surprisingly, it has helped me maintain focus and see how much I already have to be happy for.
Is it easy? No. Do I sometimes feel like I want that shit? Yes. I just forgive myself for that and keep fighting.
What are the battles you’re fighting?
